the engagement is pretty smooth from a stop in normal driving or stop and go traffic as long as you bring the revs up to around 2k rpms and engage it before they drop down past 1500 rpms or so. It is also a bit noisy at idle in neutral but not bad..you get used to it. I love the way it grabs and holds the power and for racing it is awesome because of the quick engagement.
